I just got an Avatar AV7 (US made) on ebay for a good price...I was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about the knife. I thought it was kind of unusual looking...I got the silver/blue model.

i have a -av7-av22-av77-and a all black av22-
the all black has never seen the light of day

Thanks Codger...it certainly does help...wow...I am really excited to get this knife in my hand...lol. It was shipped out yesterday...hopefully I will get it soon. I appreciate all the great information, I really like to know the background info on the knives I buy.

Ok...I got the knife a couple days ago...and I love it. I am going to write a review of the knife here, since Codger was good enough to have a nice picture of it.

As you can see by the picture, the Avatar AV7 has some unusual styling, it is not for a fan of the subdued styling. One thing the picture doesn't capture that well is the contrast of the brushed aluminum handle with the highly polished blade, spine/lockback, and the clip. This makes a very nice effect, and the knife looks as good as it feels IMHO.

The most surprising thing about this knife to me, it is beefy...it feels good in your hand, and it is a fairly heavy and sturdy knife. It opens very easily with one hand, and the blade is very unusual in it's shape, but seems to be very good for lots of different tasks. The knife arrived arm-shaving sharp...and the feel of it just gets better every time I use it. This is going to be a very sturdy, good work knife, just the right size, weight, and shape for everyday carry and the work I do the most (opening boxes, cutting rope, etc). According to my information, the blade is AUS8 and it is really sharp and is beefy. It was made in the US around 2001 or so.

I know this isn't the greatest review, but I am fairly new to this...lol. I got the knife on e-bay for 11.00...and I see there are several more on e-bay in this and different styles of the avatar series available there now. They look like they will go for a decent price...so, I would recommend getting one of these for your collection if you can...I certainly am not sorry I did...I am really happy with it. If I can answer anything else about it, I will be happy to do so.

Thanks and good luck!
