AVG 2011 installation issue???

I'm sure a lot of you are running AVG (free) anti-virus software. I have been getting the messages to upgrade to the newest version and decided to proceed with that today. I downloaded the .exe from the AVG site and it won't allow me to choose the partition/drive to install the new version on. My OS is installed on Drive E due to the fact that this is a laptop and the memory card reader is defaulted to drive C when I installed the OS. I've never had any problems with installing software because I've always had the option to choose the drive/partition but this version at this time doesn't allow for that option.

Anybody experience this issue?

I've researched and found a hint that there may be a fix for the installer in the near future...but who knows...I'm sure there are a lot of people that don't install their OS on the C drive intentionally also so surely they would come up with a fix for that.

Yes, on several machines. I use Microsoft Security Essentials. AVG was missing some updates and other stuff too often. Haven't had any clients complain.

That's strange. I also have my windows partition set as Drive E because I had an external hard drive plugged in when installing XP. I was able to upgrade to 11 without any problems. Perhaps try uninstalling AVG first, deleting the directory from Program Files, as well as the one located in "Program Files\Common Files," then installing 11.

That happened to me one time when trying to install a new version and it turned out I had a virus that was blocking the program.

Yea, thought about that too....just don't want to be unprotected....I'll research and see how long they will continue to support version 9...that's out now and see if they come up with a fix. AVG scan turns up clean and no other issues.
