4 or 5 years ago i bought my first Chris Reeve one piece knife for no other reason that i had been looking at them for awhile and just felt i NEEDED one. :p anyway, its home unit recently has been the topshelf in my gunsafe. i prefer fixed blade as my daily carry, so the past couple weeks its been on my belt, but im finding the texture of the removable endcap abbrasive and somewhat irritating to my bare skin. ive tried tucking a shirt in my jeans with the knife between that and my overshirt to keep it discrete, but im 6'5" with a long waist so the tucked in shirt becomes untucked. thats puts me back to being roughed up. my next solotion would be to find something to wrap the grip on the knife with something less abbrasive. has anyone else encountered this and what would you suggest as a wrap that wont affect my ability to get a firm grip on the knife? i realize this sounds kinda silly, but i like to comfortably carry my knife of choice. sorry about this long post, but im stumped what to do.

Seems like your stacking tolerances here, every choice brings with it compromise.

I can carry a large Sebenza all day and not know it's there, for an EDC knife it's been able to accomplish all my needs. You say your looking for comfort and I can understand that, I'm just not sure what advantage the fixed blade brings to an EDC situation. You're carrying the knife much more than using it, why compromise 99% EDC folder advantage for a 1% precieved fixed blade use advantage?

for me, the advantage of a fixed blade knife on my belt is i always seem to have pockets full of assorted things already. (surefire flashlight, cellphone, etc) you get the idea. i am probably gonna just suck it up and get used to it, but i was just hoping maybe someone else had found a simple solution. id like to add, im not one to carry a knife and not use it. my edc knives get use heavily.

Get an old bicycle inner tube and cut it to length to roll up onto the handle. If anything, it will improve your grip, and the end can be rolled down to unscrew the buttcap if you need to get to anything in the hollow handle.

You also might like Duluth Trading's long-tail T's.

What about a tight rap of para-cord like strider uses on there one piece knives

Wrapping in paracord has two disadvantages. One, it's not as easy as a rubber tube to put on. Two, it's a lot harder to clean.
