I am going to take my new aviator deer hunting next week in MN. How many deer do you think we can skin before I need to touch up the edge on the blade? I am going to give this knife a real 14 day field test and see what how it holds up.:D

As long as you don`t hit bone you`ll skin your limit for several seasons.. bone takes a toll on any edge good luck on the hunt :) :)

rdinka,

I posted a tread a few years ago about my wife using her Aviator to field dress her doe. It worked fairly well for a little while, but I found it to be a bit on the thick side. I actually switched to the small Sebenza that was in my pocket to finish the job, and believe it or not, it worked great!

The edge on the A-1 tool steel held nicely throughtout the process though. I didn't cut any bone with it. Why would you have to? I find the pelvic can stay intact and the deer will still clean up well. :)

I think the Aviator will do great. I have used other CRK's for the same thing. The checkering on the handle is nice when your hands are slippery from blood and such, just make sure and clean the checkering good to prevent bacteria. I actually ran mine thru the dishwasher to help clean it.
