Was in Gander Mt a week or so back and noticed this on the back of a 110 clammie. Then others said Select. Don't recall all the model numbers.

Just curious ??

Oh yeah,,,they wanted right at $50 for a 110. :eek::rolleyes:

The 110 has always been designated "Avid" since the Pro-Avid-Select thing started.

When you said "others said select", do you mean other 110's? The paperstone 110 is a "Select" as are alot of other Bucks.

No,,there were other various models, not 110's that said Avid Select. The 110 is the only one that I saw Avid Level on. Might have been others.

I just haven't ever seen that. Never paid attention I guess.

When did this start? Looking at a 2005 110 still new in its clam and that isn't on it.

Strange I thought Avid indicated a blade steel upgrade. I guess not. Apparently handle material alone qualifies as a upgrade.

I think we've come to associate "Avid" as indicating an "upgraded" steel, but if you look at the catalog you'll see that's not necessarily the case. Most of Bucks old standards, 110's, 112's, fixed blades such as the 100 series and Vanguard/Zipper's are all "Avids". The same goes for all the slippies. I suppose it just means that it's the best available of those patterns. The description of "Avid" doesn't say anything about upgrades or premium material, only that they use "high quality materials" and that they are all made in the USA.

Ok,,,Thanks. I am way behind obviously.

This is from the 2009 catalog in case you haven't seen it.
