Here's my newest acquisition, it has been one of my Grail knives for a long time (well, since 1995 to be exact, when I read an article about Aad Van Rijswijk, the maker of this beauty). Since then I got to know Aad and his wife, purchased some of his other folders, but never got around to buying one of his interframe folders. Until last saturday that is!

Specs: Tiger Eye Stone inlay, engraving by E. Vos (a gentleman who also engraves high-end hunting rifles!), Schneider damascus blade.

Quality of the pics is not as good as I would like - I'm no Coop! ;)

Well enough talk, here are the pics:

CONGRATS Jos! That is SWEET...tigers and tiger eye, which is one of my favorite stones.

Jos - I just was perusing my copy of "Knives 2013" and noticed your knife on pg. 147.

I wasn't aware of this - until one of my friends on the Belgian knifeforum told me!

Is the picture any better than mine?

Guess I will have to purchase a copy of knives 2013 now... :D

Kind regards,

Jos

Aad (Van Rijswijk) sent me a MUCH better picture of this beauty:

This is absolutely TOP work guys & girls!

I'm so happy with it that I ordered a second one (different theme though... can you guess which? ;) )

Kind regards,

Jos

WOW Jos!!! You now have the BEST pictures. The ones in Knives are small and poor contrast.

Those pics from Aad are EXCELLENT! That most certainly is top quality work on ALL levels. That is as good as tiger eye gets IMO as well.

Very nice. That knife is on the advertisement/poster for this years CIC Milan Show.

Much better picture (even the fur background is OK with that particular knife).

That is a beauty. I like how the engraving "goes" with the inlay.

Normally I am a big fan of Damsacus, but as beautiful as that knife is I think it might even look better with a polished stainless blade.

Regardless, you have good taste. Congratulations

Jos, stunning knife. Congratulations on the acquisition.

(Pointless) beginners question: These AvR knives are also good functionally i.e they are made of hard sharp steel, that cuts and stabs well, or are they just a work of art with neglected functionality? I understand these are made to be kept pristine in a collection, and not to be used as a tool, but to me, even to collect them, they still have to remain a state-of-the-art functional knife.

Thanks, Pedro
