My hands get really dry in the winter, and my fingers crack if I do certain things. If I open a few water bottles the caps grate my fingers like sandpaper and later they crack, stuff like that. Noticed last night that I have a small crack on my thumb right where I push open my CRKs (over and over). My poor thumb needed a break, I guess :(

Go buy some Workmens Hands, it's in a green tub. I found it at Lowe's and Home Depot. It'll fix you right up.
Amazon would probably get it to you in two days if you don't feel like going out, the stuff works great!

Usually I just put some Neosporin and a Bandaid on it for a couple days and the cracks heal right up.
Is the Workmans Hands stuff in the container shaped like a hockey puck? I may give that a try.

I have the same crack on my thumb as I am typing this. Cerave and antibiotic ointment usually take care of the problem for me.

What 1AbominAble1 said ..... the actual name is O'Keefe's Working Hands. I like to stay outside a lot in the winter (just like the cold!). But .... my thumbs ALWAYS spit open. Superglue has been my friend in the past .... until I found out about this stuff. I usually don't believe all the claims product manufacturers make ..... but, in this case, they are true. This stuff heals your split fingers fast and using it every night during the cold weather keeps them from splitting open. I couldn't find anyplace nearby that had it .... but did find some good deals on Ebay and ordered it there. Trust me ..... the stuff works (and it is pretty non-greasy and is fragrance free).

Yeah, O'Keefe's! I think they have it at Lowes at the check out counters. May have to get some tomorrow.

I use stuff with the romantic name of ... Bag Balm. Works unbelievably well on cracked, dry skin; plus cuts and scratches heal faster than I would have believed possible.

I've used bag balm since I was a little kid. My mom and dad always put it on my cuts and such. Very soothing. It comes in a green tin container.
