Guys, I just need fellow knife folks to celebrate with me. For almost a year I've been saving up little by little for a special piece, sending it's owner a little pile of dough every few months for safe keeping while I work and try to save a little more. I just heard over the weekend that I've gotten close enough for the knife to be coming in the mail to me this week. I'm pumped! Of course you never know until you see a knife in person whether it's what you thought, but his one sure is photogenic. The tragedy of knife collecting is that it's like online dating: Some pieces just seem great from the hype, images and description, but the true test of whether they're a good match for you is when you finally have them in hand.

That being said, I've been excited enough about this one to prepare a little for it's arrival in the form of a custom stand I had made to match and a case to go along for the display. It's pins and needles till the knife arrives, but I'm already throwing the party. Please join me and offer me some kind words of encouragement. This is a knife far beyond what I can typically afford, but so worth it in terms of where my knife interests have been going lately. Anyone ever been at this point in your custom knife collecting journey? I can definitely say this: a big part of the fun of this hobby is the chase.

Aw, come on! What knife? ;)

I hope your "first date" works out for you!

I think every collector arrives at the point you are now. Remember: the chase only gets better and better!

Kind regards,

Jos

Here's a pic of it in it's new home. Not the best pic of the knife, I took it through the Lucite case with a flash, but the stand I had made for it turns out to be an exact color scheme match for the ivory. Wow!

That really is a nice match of materials. I like how the base acts like a photograpic negative of the handle--more light less dark and less light amd more dark shades.

Special indeed - its spectacular!!!

Dress Military!
Fantastic ivory!
Dogstar Damascus!

What's not to like?
Got something "in the works" myself, so I know exactly how you feel/felt!

Enjoy it in good health

Just a terrific piece by a living legend. Congrats! Worth it, I'm sure, to save up for something special and finally bring it home. Very nice stand you have there, too.

I really enjoyed working with George on this piece. In fact, next to getting a new knife myself, passing a special peice from my collection on to another passinate collector brings me more enjoyment than about anything else in collecting.

I was luckey enough to win the draw to purchase this piece at the first Fisk Micro Show in 2005. It's now time for someone else to enjoy it as I certainly have. Another Fisk show coming up in about six weeks.

Congrats George, I believe this to be one of the finest knives Jerry has made.
I can't beleive how well that stand matches the ivory, you did good.

Wow, that is nice!!! Congratulations and enjoy many hours of being mesmerized staring at that display.

Lol, thanks, guys, this knife/display really brightens up my office. I'm considering having the Point Seven studios photo of the knife framed and then hang it on the wall next to the display. What do you guys think about that?
