Hey guys, new to the hobby here and still waiting for my 25 to arrive.

I currently just have a paramilitary 2 that I got recently so I don't have much experience with many knives. After extensive research, I mulled over the Umnumzaan, 21, and 25. I know the 21 in general gets the nod because of the pivot bushing but for me, I ultimately chose the 25.

Few reasons for that, one being that I want to avoid any possible fitment issues with the pivot bushing. With the 25, all I have to do is tighten it to adjust it as needed. I know for most of you any issues that arise can be quickly taken care of by CRK but I'm in Asia so it really is a hassle to get any warranty/spa work done. Not to mention shipping/custom issues and costs. I also liked the idea of the ceramic ball lockup, again in the interest of longevity. So in summary, I went with the 25 because I perceive it to be the most "trouble free". I'm sure its all a non issue, but it adds to my peace of mind.

As it is, I've waited over 2 months for my 25, I'm really hoping I will get it soon and can add some hands on experience with it. Hope the 25 is the right decision for me.

Also have a Sharpmaker on order to help me keep the knives sharp.

Getting things through customs can be a real bear.

I thought Canada/US was bad until I swapped a knife with a fellow in the Philippines. Took forever.

If it's a CRK I don't think there can be a wrong decision. You may favor one over another, but they are all top notch knives.

IMO, based on your reasons, you def made the right decision. I know a good amount of people believe the 21 is "easier", but in my experience, if you get a 21 that is slightly off(bushing size etc) you will have no choice but to send it in to get worked on. I have a few 21s right now that have blade play(a little) but am hesitant to send em out just because i dont have the time. Ive adjusted the blade play out my 25 upon cleaning myself...no shipping out required:)

Ordered from a local dealer here. Usually should take a month or less, but there was some issues with customs. Oh well, that's part of living here. Too bad I wasn't into knives back when I was in the States, would've saved me a lot of money. Prices here suck!

This hobby sure is addictive though, I went from being content with just getting a Paramilitary 2, and back then thinking people are crazy for spending $400+ on knives to me ordering a Sebenza about a week after the PM2 arrived. Now I'm looking at some customs so we'll see what I can get my hands on next. Next one should definitely be a smaller knife.

Just to be clear, those with a bushing issue once in a great while. You can simply take the coarse side of a strop and hit the sides of the bushing, and backspacer. I did this for two old ones that came to me for a sharpening and blade play fix. Very easy to do in minutes. It does not require much material removal at all. Just a two minutes of your time when you have her apart at some point and done be afraid to crank down on the screws.

What happens if I accidentally take too much off the bushing and spacer?

With a strop thats not going to happen, trust me. Very easy and fool proof, your not actually removing any material with this method. When a blade is too tight you do the same but to the washers. Doing the spacer is just to keep things uniform although your not doing much.

I hear ya man, but i just dont have enough experience as you. IMO, i dont think i want to take my 21 apart and start rubbing washers and bushings all over my strop and then test fitting it over and over to get rid of play. Basically, this is the reason i enjoy the 25 design SO much more than the 21. I can also promise you i WOULD take off too much material from the bushings/washers lol!

I hear you, I myself would rather not have to mess with the pivot or washers either.

Looking at the other threads about the blade tang wear caused by the ceramic ball, I hope it would not be an issue in the long run.
