Got my Wicked Edge last week and sharpened ever knife in the house. Then got the neighbors knives and sharpened them too. Next thing I knew I was out of things to sharpen. I found myself looking at my xm-18 like a predator looking at prey, my next meal, but I couldn't do it. I could not put the 18 on the WE (hell yeah I was scared) but I couldn't do it and I had the WE technique down. Perfectly sharpened kitchen knives all over the hood. Christmas gifts I called them, but still I would start sweating every time I glimpsed the 18 sitting there with her perfect lines and polished edge. Then I realized it was the lines that had me griped with fear. I knew I could doll her up on the machine, a la the kitchen knives, but what of her lines or better yet, her business end. Many say it's 20 maybe even 22 degrees per side but I had to be sure. No since in removing metal unnecessarily or at the wrong angle. So now I had all of the justification I need to get another toy, the "laser knife edge protractor." I know make the blade with a Sharpie and get the angle that way, but what of the toy!

Anyhow, I mounted the 18 into the protractor and the fear instantly melted away, but it was quickly replaced with a new sensation, one of awe and wonder. The 18 had a perfect 26 degree bevel on each side.......how in the hell do you do that by hand......good job Rick. Come to Papa xm-18 I've got your number! Then I measured the Sebenza (just to see) and to my surprise the bevel angle is 20 and 16. No problem, I have the WE and I have the number just wish I had Rick's skills. I can't wait to get another Hinderer knife! Another Sebenza wouldn't suck either:) Happy New Year, Y'all

Oh no, Thanks a lot Ableman, here I am trying to scrape the money together for a WE and now I have to get a Laser knife edge protractor. I did not even know something like this exsisted. Sounds like you are have a great time.....I look forward to the day I can go to the neighbors and say "give me your knives" :D. Happy new year!
