Recently, I chatted with Bill about possibly doing some small "tin knives" (for those Altoids type tins) and showed him a basic design that I thought would be workable. Yesterday, he told me that he finished a "tin knife" and told me to drop by the shop today to check it out. Well, for the record, I'm still looking for my jaw cause it hit the floor when Bill showed me this blade. He actually put blue/black micarta scales on it (which is one of my favorite micarta color combos) and put a convex grind (zero edge) on it.

This blade was nothing like the design I showed him, but if you know Bill, he just uses his imagination and comes up with his own magical creations. When Bill handed me the blade, he told me it was a gift and I owed him nothing. Although I've thanked him numerous times for this awesome little blade, I just want to publically say a very sincere "Thank You" to Bill for his generous giving spirit. I'm blessed to call Bill my friend. Since this one doesn't quite fit in a tin, I'm gonna bug his ass to make some more "tin knives" to purchase....:D

Please forgive the crappy quality of my attached photos.

R/W, the above statement reminds me of my dad. He was a custom home builder, woodworker, cabinet maker all rolled into one. Some of the gun cases, china cabinets, dressers, corner cabinets, etc. he made did not see one drawing or sketch. He built most of the stuff "on the fly" or as he went along. My mother has had so many people thru the years want to know where she bought "such an ornate piece of work" at. She always tells them it was "at a garage event" . . . . :)
I have a sneaky feeling my dad & BA were both cut from the same mold and era. They just grab a piece of steel, wood, and some tools, and the next thing you know, a work of art is ready for a new home. Says volumes about BA and his knowledge & talents to be able to do this . . . .
Enjoy your newfound "toy", & BA, if you ever make those for the "general public", put me down for one for my Altoid's kit I keep in the Jeep . . . .
Great work and excellent looking knife . . . .
Be safe.

Very nice! I see why you like the blue/black micarta. Hard to beat a friend like Bill.

Grats RW,love that convex edge & blade finish.
And thanks for putting the tin knife bug in Bills ear.
Hopefully he'll start making some.
I have a few tin knives & would love a couple more from Bill or Chris or both even.

That thing is awesome! Ive been wanting to do some tin knives but without scales. Bill, you lit a fire under my arse!

Very nice!

The antique finish on that fine blade reminds me of the work of ANOTHER excellent young knifemaker....from down around Knoxville.

;)

Marc sweet looking knife! Bill I am sure is an awesome friend. He is a knife maker and bowhunter so he knows what will work for hard outdoor use!

I have several of those tins for my vehicles and various backpacks, but not enough "tin knives" for each tin. I really like having a cutting tool in them, so I'll keep buggin' Bill until he makes some to sell on the forum...:D

That is a really sweeeet little knife. Very nice man he is. Great work. I like the tin knives too. Trying to make some for my tins.
