  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

YES! Received this BK14 in the mail yesterday from Clich for his 4000 Post GAW. Nice. Only had time to snap a pic as a baseline to whatever happens to it from this point on. When I opened it I showed it to my wonderful wife. She said "I like that black coating, but I'm sure it'll be off before I see it the next time." I'm almost thinking of leasing it out to her for favors...you know like feeding me and keeping me in line...etc. Minds out of the gutter, she pays me. At least it would still be part of my immediate Becker family- BK11, BK7 and now the BK14. Although I just gave her a knife I made. Hmmmm. This is a dilemma.

I do have some work to do in the shop before I can get around to any BK14 mods. Should I or shouldn't I? Maybe I'll just play with it a little first and decide later. If I beat it up a bit she may not want it then. That would solve the issue quickly, although that could backfire on me too. She's not one for glitsy or glamorous. It might just make her like it more with some wear and tear, just like her husband.

Guess we'll have to see who the BK14 likes better. She is prettier and sweeter but I'd rub it down more and give it some good backwoods lovin'. It would get more beatings from me, she'd pamper it more.

What do I do?

just use it for a while. see what happens.

Play with it for a while, and decide what needs to be improved after you find out what needs doing. I used mine for a few months, then I decided to add about 1in of jimping on the spine, and now I am working on putting a convex edge on it. I also stripped it, and I am now debating if I should spray a few coats of Rustoleum Multi- Colored Textured spray paint in forest green. But the jimping made a BIG difference in both grip and fine tasks such as fuzz sticks. You should also buy the ESEE micarta for your 14. It made a big difference in grip and they look and feel incredible. I absolutley LOVE my 14, and I will be buying or making some custom kydex pants for my esky, and I am sure once I do that, it will be probably the best fixed EDC ever! Congratz on the 14, you will love it.

Oh yeah there'll be mods. My BK11 went through most of them and it looks great. Natural mods first. Beat it through some firewood first and go from there. I have some burl for the handle, it should look cool.
