this is an awesome little knife i got recently. it was inspired by OSS thumbdaggers. its similar to a balisong, with a 1.25 inch blade. they are well made and inexpensive. locks up hard. made in china. they are very tiny but big enough to still be usefull inmop.

(( OK to show the knife, but let's leave the advertising to paying dealers. ))

Do a review. I'm not sold. The lock system, the steel. Advantages to any other folder?

looks interesting.

though the concept is not new, was it barry wood who was making a similar folder some years ago?

i wouldnt say i see any real advantage to any other folder other than its very small size and weight, it looks like a pen when clipped to your pocket. it is interesting to handle and use though, it really has that fun butterfly knife feel to it when you open and close it. i just got it so i dont know how well the steel will hold up, i think i read the steel is aus8 or 440c. the fit and finish is excellent though, and my knife came razor sharp. if it holds up, i think it would be a very good user knife. as for the "lock", well it doesnt actually have a lock, its more like a latch that keeps the handles together like on a butterfly knife, but once you flip it open and its latched in place its pretty solid. the blade does not budge or rattle at all and the latch is decent, you have to really want to disengage it, and i dont see that happening when you are holding the knife and its two handles closed together.

it was indeed, I am fortunate enough to own one of the original 1970's Colt produced Barry Wood folders that uses this handle/lock design. it is a very cool and sturdy design, but also very slow to deploy and unlike a butteryfly knife it typically requires both hands.

IMO, that is a poor execution of a similar knife Mike Janich produced, the Jani-song. The concept is nice, but for a "folder" with a blade that short, I'd definitely look at other alternatives before that knife, unless I just wanted a neat opening mechanism.

EDIT: Lol, he looks like he has mascara on. haha.
EDIT 2: He said "ulitarian". lol. Reminds me of good ole GW Bush.

I guess the only thing that matters here is that
JeremiahWeaver09 likes it.
Thanks Dude!

True. He was just sharing something he liked with the rest of this community, even if some of us don't like it.

EDIT: Maybe Gary W. Graley (sp?) will chime in. He had a few knives for sale that had a similar mechanism, but seemed more stout and with a larger blade. They were on sale in the exchange a few months ago.

I hear that. Just trying to see the benefits of the design. I can't get into it but am always open to new gear or knives. Interesting concept still.

I was trying to find Gary's old for sale thread but couldn't. Those knives with similar mechanisms looked pretty nifty. I just wish I could remember the name. I recall them not being made anymore.

Interesting knife, the ones I had up forsale were made by Barry Woods;
See this Thread

I've owned several of his folders, very nifty pieces!

i have been edcing this knife everyday now since i received it and made this thread. its been great so far. i use it for small tasks at work like opening plastic packages, cutting paper, opening small boxes. knife is till like a razor. i have really gotten the opening and closing motions down now, its very quick and simple to open and close one handed. its small, but big enough to be useful.

I find small knives are handier for many ordinary tasks than larger knives, which can be clumsy -- the tip is too far from the handle for good control.
