My wife and I took a short...(2,964 miles!) driving vacation around the the Pacific Northwest, the first stop after the gas station was in Boise at Chris
Reeve's great factory. I was greeted at the door by a most helpful gal (whose name I forgot...sorry!) and was shortly introduced to Chad, who took me in the back and across the street to tour the factory. He was more than ready to answer any questions I had and showed me a LOT of the process. One thing he showed me was a plastic tote full of damascus blades, including one with a new "basketweave" pattern that was drop-dead gorgeous! While
doing the tour. my large Sebenza was given the spa treatment and sharpened better than new. I planned to purchase several small items, but the girl behind the counter insisted there was no charge for some items. Such generosity is not often encountered. All in all, the only downside was that Chris stepped out just before our arrival, so I just missed meeting him. The tour was great and I was made to feel like someone special the whole time. I felt surrounded by a lot of friendly, caring people who really go the extra mile to provide the greatest products and service they can! A big thanks to everyone there for making it a wonderful experience!

Sweet story man... I would be kinda apprehensive to meet CR because from what i have read he is not a great people person, according to a few accounts. Not that he really needs to be or even should be haha but i do love his knives so i would be nervous.

That's a fantastic story. I am planning a trip with my wife to Colorado. Now I just need to see how much further it is to Idaho. :)

So what goodies did you leave with?

Sorry, no knives! A shirt, hat, pocket sheath, clip filler tab and a thumb drive with lanyard containing Chris' shop tour. Would looove a small Seb with that basketweave blade though! Maybe someday!

I would love to do that. No, I will do that someday. I just put the Chris Reeve factory on my bucket list.

Thanks for sharing, glad your experience was great! I would love to go to the factory one day to see the birthplace of my favorite knives:)
On the same note.....glad to hear there is going to be more basket weave coming! Put me down for a box elder mnandi with that Damascus blade

Thanks for posting. Definitely on my to do list. Can you just show up during business hours or is an appointment needed?
