I was so impressed with this knife that I had to share. There are a few Fixed Blade Loveless style Makers who are at the top of their game and I don't think anyone would deny that Thad is one of them.

Aside from the amazing Stag on this knife, I personally love the Snap in the Handle concept.

Beautiful knife.

I'm on my phone so the pics are small... Can you explain the snap in the handle concept?

Bob came up with the idea to inset the Female part of the snap into the handle (instead of a Blind or Loveless bolt). The Male part of the Snap is placed through the leather of the Sheath as normal. That way when the knife is inserted into the Sheath it will snap into place thus preventing it from coming out unless it is unsnapped. This kind of knife was supposed to ride in the back or front pocket and this was a way to prevent accidents. :-)

Thad is a seriously talented dude and this is a terrific piece. Congrats!

The man can grind, thats for sure. But are you sure he invented the snap system? I could swear Ive seen alot of other Loveless-style makers doing the same thing, and possibly even the man himself.

Congrats on the beautiful knife; I am fortunate enough to have a Chute from Thad. He is a very talented maker and very friendly guy.

Thad is truly if not the best certainly one of the best in this style

You could have easily overlooked post #3, or perhaps misread or misunderstood. "Bob (as in Loveless) came up with the idea". You certainly could have seen many examples of the use of the original idea.

These photos (also Thad's outstanding work) demonstrate the process quite well.
Bob Loveless used the snap on his New York Specials Type I, I believe, as opposed to type II that has no snaps. In any case VERY RARE. I believe the story goes that Bob made these knives for a select group of NYC police officers. Thus the snaps (as mentioned above) made for easy carry. At least that's what I was told.

Thad's work definition of clean knife execution in my opinion.

One of the best for this style of knives, that's for sure. Thad does Loveless proud, with his workmanship.

For some reason I read "Thad" instead of "Bob". Thanks for clearing that up;)
