Found this on Robin Wood's blog. Impressive, to say the least.

Cool video. The talk of angles and bevels illustrates the comp filers need for precision. Warren Miller's vids are quite different, I dont think he mentioned any angles on the teeth, only that he sort of rolled the file to give a slightly almond shape to the tooth. When he talked about hammer setting, I think he said to hit the tooth "at a 30 degree angle, or something". I chuckled at that. Yours truly is not particularly fond of angles and measurements =)

I'll have to take a video of double bucking with one of my saws in some pine soon. Not as sexy as these saws but working saws nonetheless. I would wager they would cut longer with less maintenance =P

What suburb craftsmanship. His saws, while they are strictly competition saws, are beautiful. I can't imagine filing a saw (competition or not) from a blank piece of spring steel. All production crosscuts saws start life as stampings, then refined by filing.

To file each and every angle by himself; the level pf patience, focus and commitment-that is truly inspiring.

Holy crap--those are gorgeous saws! I need to learn how to take care of saws one of these days. They're one of the few edged tools I haven't really gotten into sharpening.

Thanks for that, I love to see such craftsmen at work. It was amazing how fast they cut through those logs.
