Awesome way you have saved money by using a knife

When I, many decades ago, moved to student housing, I did not wanted to spend my money to eating utensils. So, I used my knife and whittled Chinese eating sticks.

Countless things I fixed with a Leatherman Micra and Victorinox Rambler, including a cellphone after walking I to a lake to push out a boat 12years ago. I used them to disassemble the flip phone to let dry the rest of the camping trip. A few dead pixels but it worked fine.

Beyond that, glasses, cars, electronics, etc. Even knives with just one blade and no tools I have fixed countless things.

Haha, think it is probably even. For as much as I have saved using knives/multi-tools to fix things... I go out and spend that money on knives... Actually, I am probably at a deficit due to needing more knives to save more money!:p

We should all require our spouses to read this thread. ;) Knife collecting saved me lots by replacing sword collecting. :D A knife (SAK) saved me $$ by using it to fix a loose clamp on a radiator hose; no need for a tow and mechanic (canteen of water helped also).

I often have chopsticks lying around, from Chinese take-out. So when I run out of toothpicks, I use a knife to whittle one out of a chopstick, or else just pick my teeth with the knife.

Intimidated my landlord.
"Landlord" or "FORMER Landlord"?

Did the landlord invite the police to come over during your "conversation"?

Did the police take you for a ride?

How long did the judge give you a place to live "rent free" for threatening the landlord with a weapon?
(If you intimidated the landlord with a knife, the knife would be a "weapon" in the eyes of the police and court system.)

I was a gun collector. Fortunately I gave up this hobby. Afterwards I feel that it was stupid spending of time and money. Now I love knives, I love axes and scythes, too. There is so many nice work to do with them and a lot of opportunities to save money. Today I whittled barbegue sticks and we grilled sausages in campfire.

I would say the only time I ever saved money regarding a knife, was to not buy one.

Every other one has cost initially, and on upkeep in time, effort, supplies, ever since, ...an expense, in short....but a necessary expense and pleasurable expense.

Current landlord, though my rent is very low now, since he's terrified of me.

A guy who worked in a Tennis shop next to my work was working late (past midnight) because he had screwed up and was trying to fix his mistake before the boss found out. He finished, but broke off his key in the lock. With a SAK and Leatherman Squirt I was able to lock the door and extract the broken part of the key, thus saving him a bunch of money on a locksmith (OT rates after hours), and possibly his job. He said "thanks" with a 6 pack of Fat Tire.
