The merger of Kmart and Sears as Sears Holdings Corporation closed on March 24, 2005, following affirmative shareholder votes of both companies. The company’s corporate headquarters is in Hoffman Estates, Ill. Kmart maintains a headquarters office in Troy, Mich. Sears Holdings will operate Sears and Kmart stores, and will begin opening a combined format named Sears Essentials during the second quarter of 2005. The company will continue to market products under brands held by both companies.

Current information about these businesses can be found on Kmart.com and Sears.com.

I had heard of the buyout on the news, I noticed that since it happened, Sears has been phasing out the Camillus contract pocket knife line (there was a lot of information on the Craftsman section of their website in the Q&A, which is currently closed for updating).

I got a 1990 14hp Sears lawn tractor just begging to to bought in the feeding frenzy for antique Sears products on EBay..
Somebody let me know whe it starts?

I have a couple of their Craftsman power tools that died after one year and a day that I can sell too. Perfect display items, especially when they outlaw posession of electrical tools with functioning triggers. Thankfully, Sears had to eat a mountain of them and are slowly returning to American manufacturers for their Craftsman lines. Dunno about them ditching Camillus though. I have the Camillus Sears 100th Anniversary knife with bone covers and it is a beaut!

I was referring to the regular production Camillus Craftsman wood handled user type knives. The Sears stores around here have stopped stocking them and the web site only had the stockman patterns when last I checked. Did you get the 100th anniversary model locally? Sounds like a nice knife, please post a photo when you get a chance sir.

These show up on eBay occasionally, and usually sell for fifty or less mint in the presentation box with papers.

Have you tried the Sears history and archive site on the net.Lots of information there.I've tried to search knife history there but have'nt had much luck.Arnold

I guess knives don't fit their new corporate image now. Neither does "the Kid", Ted Williams. They go on and on about John Higgins, but Ted is nowhere to be found in their history. A pity.

Thanks Bill. I wish I could find some old TW Schrade knife ads. The list of sports stars in that ad is pretty impressive. I never got to meet him. But I did hang with the Oreoles one summer when I lived a block from the stadium. Couldn't ask for a nicer bunch of guys. Brooks Robinson was my hero, and Boog Powell. I thought they were booing the batter. Then after he whacked one into the scoreboard, I figured out it was just them rooting for BOOOOOOOG Powell.
