OK. This isn't an axe and I apologize for that in advance.
However, I have been using it constantly since I picked it up a couple of weeks ago.
Sharpened an axe and hatchet on it and have been using it for roughing out tool handles with an axe. (so it's axe related)
It works so great I thought I'd share it. I sit on the small part and the larger work surface is right there. I love it.
Picked it up when I saw a guy with a big saw in the city.
This always piques my interest. Lots of 100 year old Acers, Elm, fruit and nut trees here in Portland.
Asked the guy what was up and he showed me a large Cottonwood they'd taken down behind a warehouse.
He said "no problem" when I asked if I could have it.

Heck yeah, that looks perfect. I sit on a stool next to a stump in essentially the same way so that would be awesome.

That looks perfect, all it needs it maybe a cushion and a nail on the side to hang a brush.

Now you know why a broad hatchet was sometimes called a 'stump axe'. Useful for work 'at the stump' - the best makeshift bench.

We use big stumps also. At our camp we have 5 of them around the fire. If I go to another camp, I really miss my stump. How do I do anything without a stump? It's my table, my axe anvil, my batoning base, my whittling base, my footstool, etc..
