I was sent a copy of a book on axes and found it so good that I found a download site which I posted on the axe forum. I also have copies on my geocities (20 gigs/month) site, so feel free to download from there if it's faster:
An Axe To Grind
Many thanks to Frank for sending me a copy and so I'm passing a link along to you guys.
It takes a fast connection speed since the pdf files are large - 10 segments at about 1.5 megs each. You need Adobe Acrobat to view. Canadians with slow connection speeds can email me for a paper copy/CD. Maybe some people in the US who think the book is good will do the same for people there.
Originals can be ordered from:
USDA Forest Service
Missoula Technology and Development Centre
Building 1, Fort Missoula
Missoula MT 59804-7294
Phone: (406) 329-3900
Fax: (406) 329-3719
E-mail: pubs/wo_mtdc@fs.fed.us
As far as I know there's no copyright - it's a US forests 59 pg book by their restoration specialist, Bernie Weisgerber. covered are axe history, setup, sharpening, use, and specialty tools like broad axes, adzes.
