Has anyone read "The Axe Book: The Lore and Science of the woodcutter" by Cook or "The Axe Wielders Handbook" by Beaudry?

I think Beaudry's "Axe Wielders Handbook" is an excellent book. He doesn't cover felling as well as Mors Kochanski's "Bushcraft" but otherwise it's a much more comprehensive book than Kochanski's chapter on axecraft. I doubt there are many people alive today who have as much experience as Beaudry does with an axe. He was a 1970s back-to-the-lander who bought 12 acres of Maine woods and an axe and built himself a home. And then built himself another one.

The book covers everything from handle replacement to the basics of building a log cabin. Although much of the material might be considered introductory to an experienced axe user, it's still an interesting read to learn about the considerable experience of a man who has had a life-long love affair with the axe.

I saw Beaudry's exhibit at the Common Ground fair in Maine a few weeks ago and I was impressed by his work.
