Have some old axes , can't make out the name on one of them. Maybe someone could recognize the name.... Thanks (can't get a better picture)

Maybe someone will readily recognize it but if you want to read the makers marks, head on would help.

What is head on ?

I’m sorry, what I meant to say was that I am interested in your axe and would like to help you identify it. I can’t read the top line of the text above “cast steel” due to the angle at which the photo was taken. If you are able to take another at a more direct angle it would help.

Neat offset handle on that one.

That's the best I could do, had to get the light just right to get that one. That's why I was hoping someone would recognize it. Like in cast steel the s's are inverted I'm thinking some in the name are. It's tough for me because I have large holes in my retinas and all text are crooked …. Thanks

could the second word be : cornish?
any way paint that part in red for example then sand the surface to keep the stamp "engraving" red and have a better contrast to read.

Better idea would be to clean that area up a little bit with some steel wool and fill it in with chalk or something.
Paint and sandpaper not so much, but hilighting that area is a good idea.

I was just thinking about chalk (none in the house )thought of talcum powder Don't have any of that either …:) Hate to paint it , that would be last resort.

yes I know I have a type-o in the title. Forgot to mention it is a hewing axe , left hand . Don't know if that helps.

It is a link - click it ;)
Oh weird. Initially it wasn't blue. It just appeared as quotes so I didn't recognize it as a link. Anyhow that's funny! People weren't woosies and didn't sue back then so they didn't need those stupid labels.
My favorite warning is from a batman costume I saw at Walmart years ago. It read "WARNING; Cape does not enable user to fly". Hahaha geez....
