As I recently posted, I have a 1.5lb (Husqvarna hatchet) axe head that I would like to re-handle. I read that the eye is a perfect fit with a boys axe handle. Where can I go to find a shorter length boys axe handle?
Thank Ya'll

If you want a 24" handle, buy a Council tool Hudson bay velvicut handle. Its expensive, but its really top quality 24" handle. You can get them at Omaha knives and tool. I put mu 1 3/4lb Bahco head on a 24" handle, love it!

Don't know off hand. At work. It is bigger than your Husqy eye and will take trimming. But I've had to do that on every handle. I love putting my smaller heads on longer handles. Takes work to fit it but the results are awesome!

I've never used an ox handle. Those German style handles have a very long "eye section" that normally hangs way below the head and a large eye. I'm not a fan of the long thick part as it makes it awkward to choke up on. However, having more material than you need in a handle is far better than too little, in my opinion. With a little work, it can be fitted to a huge variety of heads.

These guys carry one:

or buy a few blanks from House Handle. They're ~38-40" x 1 ½” x 3 ¼” so you can probably make one and have enough left over for a hatchet handle as well:

I didn't know house handle sells blanks..... Are they affordable?

They don't list it on their site; I contacted them about it - feel free to do the same. I found the pricing very reasonable: $3.50 ea and I opted to pay $2.00 extra for optimal grain orientation. This was a year ago though so pricing might have changed. What kills it a bit though is shipping - I ordered 7 in one go, and that's quite a bit of weight to ship on top of the large dimensions.

First off you don't provide us with a location. Typically a good hardware store (the newly opened Lowes chain up here even had some decent ones) will stock handles. You might have to visit at rural ones rather than city stores though.
