Did you try the Newberg historical society? A quick Google says that there may have been a Hodson Brothers hardware(link is dead). Interesting that they would actually be manufacturing handles in Newberg. Importing hickory or using Maple I wonder?
 
There was a handle manufacturer in Vancouver BC . I think it was owned by one of the big forestry companies. The reason I remember , they were on a long newsworthy strike. I think they were represented by the I.W.A.. It makes sense in a way,50 years ago, coast logging was in full swing.
