I am looking for a few high quality axe handles for some vintage heads I have aquired. I have searched the flea markets and hardware stores, but can only find rough grained, ployurethaned handles that are of very poor quality. I am looking for something similar to what BMC or BCX uses. Unwaxed and oiled is preferred. Just raw handle. Any help is more than appreciated...

I get most of my handles from hickoryhandlestore.com

Thanks skog. I'm eyeing 2 of his 32" racing handles, which look scary close to the shape I'm wanting. Thanks again.

They are very thick, so you will have some shaving to do. I have used two of them already on my Jerseys.

Do they come to you "raw" or unfinished? I have yet to find a handle that doesn't have some variety of finish on it.

I've been getting a lot of my handles from Hickoryhandlestore.com as well. All of the handles were good quality and had a light wax coating. They sold me one totally unfinished "fresh of the lathe" bank blade handle that I'll be fitting to a hewing axe. I think the guy I corresponded with was named Mark, he was pretty helpful with my special order considering it was a single unit.

Trailmaker, thanks for giving me a name for someone who has proven to be helpful... I will email them tomorrow...

Best Made offers replacement handles for sale on their website. They are the same handles from their 4# felling axe. They come lightly oiled. They are thinner and leaner than most other replacement handles.

Council tool also offers a wide selection of replacement handles.

This is where I have gotten all mine from as well. This is an off shoot of Tennessee Hickory Handles, I believe just their EBay business, or maybe this guys is hauling out seconds. I have got some handles that are awesome, and others that were less than stellar. I think you just need to make it known what you are looking for, and go from there.

I think he is affiliated with them, as when I wanted aa grade racing axe handles he told them at the factory to spin him off a new batch. I ended up waiting an extra 2 weeks to get them. Everything I order we discuss in ebay messaging before I pull the trigger. Good guy to deal with.
