Should I have bought it?
Otherwise it was straight, close-grained, and sound; an unused small double-bit helve.
Now I'm thinking a half-dozen wormholes don't remove that much structure, and the BLO will probably kill anything still living there, and I have a small db head waiting for a handle.

Were these only tiny holes (1/16") and not that many I wouldn't be getting all alarmed. But what it very much would do is make me wonder what type, and in what condition this wood is. I've never come across 'worm' (beetle larvae) holes except in lumber that is/was milled from standing dead material.

I didn't go back for it. 1/16" is about right, probably around a half-dozen, concentrated unfortunately in the narrow middle.
