Having trouble figuring out which side of the kerf to shave when trying to turn the axe head. If I look down the bit and handle, the bit is to the right of center, where do you remove wood to get it to turn to center?

is the whole bit to the right or is it twisted along the bit ?

Then remove some from the right so it has room to move over to the left.

Can you use an image hosting site and post a picture of the axes eye ?

Opposing corners. If viewing the tongue in a top-down view with the direction of the bit being north and the direction of the poll is south,, removing material in the northeast and southwest would turn the head anticlockwise.

Imagine trying to twist the axe to align with the haft. Which opposing corners prevent it from twisting that way? Shave those corners.
