This is my first post and one that is very important to me I hope that there are others that feel the same. I feel as if there is a portion of us here at blade forums that truly desire an axe, hatchet tomahawk thread for selling and trading. The current set up is you have to scour every thread from production fixed blades to custom fixed blades to gadgets and gear and trade knives and tools threads. I would love to see a section just for my beloved vintage axes, new axes tomahawks hatchets spaxes and klaxes finnish Swedish and everything in between. This is something I have wanted for sometime and just wanna see if there is more out there who feel this way if there is some place I am missing to find these (other than flea Bay) let me know. This thread is dedicated to the axe suffrage movement and any supporters it may have do I have any supporters you can simply second the motion or add your own two cents. Maybe by doing this we can get some recognition from the powers that be or maybe they will close the thread either way I wanna know thank you for your time.

I personally don't see why because people who restore or resale knives don't but maybe a moderator would be better suited to weigh in

i got plenty axes to to turn loose of.
seems the traffic on this subforum would justify an axe - tomahawk for sale section
i second what the op said. you gotta hunt all over the forum for axes and it's usually to late when you find one for sale or trade.

I've done it, and searching the exchange for an ax or hatchet was a waste of time. I would have preferred to give a forum member the business, but I gave up and went to EBay. In other words, I AGREE WITH GOOSE!

I'd love to see a new sale section for Axes, Hatchets and Hawks.

Correct me if I'm wrong but memberships are issued to individuals.

Unless something has changed, each person who has something to post for sale would need a membership that allows that. Whether trade or sale there is a coordination of the exchange of goods - new or old.

For instance, I post an axe head I want to sell. Being as I'm not giving it away and benefiting monetarily regardless of my profit - it is a sale. I would need to have a membership that allows that.

If I post an axe head for trade, it is still an exchange of goods. Whether that is seen as selling is up to interpretation of forum rules. That, to me, is still under the category of "conducting business".

Let's say I purchase a membership at the level of allowing me to post things for sale. As far as where to post my axe heads for trade or sale I think that would be in the forum section for doing so.

Don't get me wrong, I think having a dedicated section for it would be great for rounding out a collection or coordinating finding a pattern not common to your area. Might even bump into someone in person. All this is good.

That is my interpretation from the situations where admin or forum members step in and cite the stated (and agreed upon) rules and could be wrong on several or all points.

Knives/gear/tools trading outside of forum membership levels would be addressed somewhat in this announcement:

Figure out how a dedicated axe trade/sale forum fits with the existing rules, how it would be different, and approach admin?

I've seen a "Buck Knives for sale" subsection so maybe a start is to appeal for something like that - tool specific. Seems that to post there you would still need at least have a Basic Membership to offer a trade and higher to post for sale.

I've never traded here and am only adding this to the conversation. Never really looked at above links until today so I am not an expert in forum rules. I just like tools - usually older well-made ones.

Thanks for the feedback guys I agree with alot of what you it's have said and VCB THRICE and mark v it seriously is a waste of time looking as it is because by the time it's found its gone. Thanks to you other guys for supporting this too it's nice to see some other axe heads out there. I believe the volume would be more than enough espicially seeing some of the other categories like buck knives and even the knife making supplies category sometimes you see one or two things posted for a day I think enough of us have vintage axes axe heads tomahawks and or hatchets that the turnover would be there

id like to see an axe sale subforum too. or maybe call it a tool sale. id like to get old wood handle screw drivers, spoke shaves, saws, bit and brace, etc

I'd love to see an axe sales subforum, but they can already be bought/sold in the gadgets/gear section. I rarely see any in there, so I don't think staff will add a subforum when there's not much movement as is.

So is the gadgets and gear section the place to find and sell axes or the production fixed blades I'm gonna start posting some but I want to know what the consensus maybe too people just don't think about doing any trading when it comes to axes or old tools

Anything that's not a knife goes into gadgets and gear.

Might be better just to have a stickied thread right here in this forum. That way all the axe people would see it. Maybe they could set it up so that any post older than 2 weeks is automatically deleted. Or maybe we could find a friendly moderator who wouldn't mind deleting posts for us.

Sounds like a great idea. Currently looking for a 2-2.5 pounder for a project. Posted an ad in the "Wanted" forum but pretty much a long shot.
