It's hard to say man. I'm pretty sure that's a Mann edge tool #3 with the flat top like that.
I have a connie with remnants of a paper label that does look similar to yours.

Mine has the same 3 but not on the poll like yours...

I've been digging quite a bit trying to find similar examples. I'll keep my eyes peeled for yours too.
It's a good looking axe you've got there regardless!

Yankee Josh, thank's for posting the pictures!!

you guys know that's not a superscript 5 right? its a 3. that's a 3^3 axe - which means 3 3/4lbs

I've seen (and have one) axes with 3^1 and 3^3 stamps, but they were always on older axes. seems like at some point they stopped stamping on the quarters of pounds and just stamped in half pound increments.

So, regardless of the maker, I think its an older head.

thanks for taking the time to help me out.on closer inspection it is 33 stamp ,not sure what i was looking at.

If I had to guess, I would say it kind of looks like an old Warren axe.

my only warren axe is stamped with a 4 though so I don't know what the warren 3s look like.

On IG today somebody posted up a Mann axe that is stamped "forged steel" into the opposite side. Further bolstering my conclusion that the paper label axe I posted above was indeed made by Mann. Thought I'd post this here for posterity. It may help in putting the puzzle together.

I don't recall seeing that stamped into a Mann axe before. Worth pointing out!
Here's a photo of mine again;
