Do you guys know of Any head patterns that are found in both axes and hatchets ? ( as well as those exclusive to axes ) And any undefined hatchet head patterns that don't really match any existing patterns ?

There is a Plumb thread on the go at the moment and old catalogue illustrations in it feature National pattern full size, boys and hatchet versions. And as Lieblad said in the previous post there's always Hudson Bays to look at.

What I've noticed is that hatchets don't usually seem to use the typical axe head patterns. For example the typical plumb scout hatchet seems to be it's own head pattern, and today's typical hardware store hatchets also don't really seem to be an existing pattern. I know that there are some hb ,Dayton, and my Vaughan sub zero is a Michigan ( but the old Vaughan/craftsmans weren't )

So I guess what I'm asking is if these seemingly hatchet specific head styles have actually been defined, if there are any other axe patterns that are also uses in hatchets.
