I picked up a small single bit axe at a yard sale today and i have no clue what it is.
On the right side as you look down e edge it has a capital "M" with a circle around it and looks like A 2 M 4. On the left side it has a circle that kind of looks like a globe, can't makeout any letters but it looks like it might be a continent. I would guess the weight at around 1-1.5 lbs.Any help would be appreciated. I got it for $3, also picked up a single bit craftsman that is approx 3 lbs. For $8. Best i could do on pics for now.

The markings are kind of faint. Only camera i have is a crappy one on a tablet. It won't pick up tue markings. I will see if i can borrow a camera.

I'll take the easy answer because I can't help any further than that. I'm guessing it said 2-1/4 - a typical weight for a boy's axe. You might also check the thread which was created to discuss the mysterious "M" markings - I believe it is probably on the most recent pages of this forum.

I read some of the thread about m markings, all the ones that i saw didn't have a circle around them. All just had a plain m stamp.

They are a mystery indeed. I won't waste any more space in your thread. There are a couple ID gurus who will eventually chime in.
