Got this no name head of the ebay. Put in a bid because it looked interesting and won. It's 3 1/4 pounds and isn't an American pattern as far as I can tell. Not looking to track down the manufacture but want to see is you guys know what style this head is. The socket is a little wider and shorter than the standard full size handles I have.

Does it have a real nice ping to the bit if you were to flick it? I would wager just a guess at possibly a Garant for the North American market made by iltis.

Sort of has the shape possibly sharpened extensively through out its life, and the slightly larger eye make me feel that way.

Could you through up a picture of the eye from above. Thanks.

Edit: maybe not, the heel dives a bit hard for how little the toe rises.

The eye does look to be a bit different, but head looks like it could be a modern attempt at a Michigan pattern.

Looks like the hardware store stuff coming out of India. Usually come with a fiberglass haft but sometimes wood.

Which Mora is that? They are the best value. My Companion has become by backpacking knife mostly for its weight.

It's a standard mora with the thicker blade. I don't feel risky without a mora on my work bench.

Flat cheeks will point you towards offshore manufacture. That doesn't necessarily mean the quality will be bad (Swede made and Ox Head Iltis axes are usually stamped, by the way) and only by filing the blade will you get an indication of hardness.

It has a thick green/gray powder coat that my hippie approved paint stripper won't touch. I have decided to use alternate methods to make her talk.
