Hey all, new to the forum and axes. I’m currently working with the Forest service doing trail work. Love what we do and our district encourages axe use over saws when possible. Got some advice from a volunteer to grab any old axe with a weight stamp under the head as it’s almost certainly a Snow and Nealley. Found one and grabbed it. However, the stamp’ font doesn’t seem to match that of other S and Ns, most notably the 3 has a flat top to it.

Did I make a bad first call on an axe or is this puppy ok?

We can't see your images. You'll need to host them on the web somewhere and then link to them here.

While the older Snow and Nealleys are certainly good axes there are many others as good or better.
