Axe identification

Hi, I found this head outside a deserted Alpine village, quite near the French Italian border, back in the 1960s It has a good makers mark, but I cannot make out the name, any help on identification and age would be appreciated

Bernard, identify the region, I'm familiar with the area just not the name of it, and search for axes of that place. French axes have definite regional characteristics.
