Ive got a project in mind and im looking for recommendations of smiths that are worth looking into for a custom axe

I know about Liam Hoffman and he does amazing work but hes a pretty busy guy.

Bonus points if they are Canadian :p

Thanks!

Kind of depends on what you're looking for. There's a lot of makers out there and it's a matter of who does what you're looking for best.

Its going to be more of a fantasy axe. Ill try and post a Pic.

I couldnt add the picture but the link should take you to it.

Before I get attacked I know its going to be heavy and stupid I just really like the design and sometimes I get something stuck in my head and need to make it real.

Since that's a tanged design you'd probably want to find someone who makes tactical 'hawks rather than traditional axe maker.

I thought about that but I was hoping to find someone that could forge me a head like the picture. Im fine with the handle being wood.

Okay, so if interpreting it as a head with an eye you'd be looking at someone capable of forging a collared head like on some Nordic axes. You might try Downing Arts. I'm gonna' hazard a guess that you'd be looking at an axe north of $1k to have something like that made though.

Hmm, i might have to go about this the same way I built my sword.
Thanks for the help im going to do some sketching and see if i can come up with a more traditional non collard head i like as much, its the headhunting crescent blade is what im really into i think.

If you can come up with something more conventional that you like, you could buy a spiked fire axe from harbor freight and modify the head.
