I figure it's about time I have a thread of my own for all my projects, and there's never a better time than the present. Things will probably be a little disjointed, since I usually don't take pictures of my finished products until I'm ready to pass them along.

I'd be tempted to call this little Hartwell a peeling pattern. Anyways, just haven't really seen many cruisers like this...

A bit of a change from this:

That's a full custom handle, too. I'll be posting more as I get around to it. College has me stuck for now.

Great idea on the handle there. Has me thinking about how to put some of the "pull-offs" to use.

Very nice work.

Another project from a while ago- C. Hammond 1# half hatchet. This thing was amazing.

Couldn't find my "before" pics. Came with the vintage octagon handle, and I absolutely loved the color it took when I oiled it. The head took a wicked edge like no other, too. That one moved along at Christmastime, and now I've got a 2# Hammond half hatchet and a 2&1/4# Hammond Ohio pattern boy's axe in the works. Some of my favorite steel to work with.

A little keeper for myself I scored off the 'Bay - a forge-welded Connie boy's axe. Got it fresh from the Connecticut dirt (and still covered in it!), where it seems to have sat a long while. Had to weld up a little 1/2" crack on the bottom of the eye and grind off a ridiculous amount of 'shrooming, but the bit is great. Scored a vintage haft to put it on, threw in a hardwood wedge, and it went together beautifully. I'll be hard pressed to ever let go of this one...

Thanks! I loved working with this one. I'll need to try and get a few more down in Amish country- one of their handmade handles provides a much better starting point than a big box store p.o.s....

Beautiful work on all of those pieces. I am very tempted to give an octagonal handle a go myself. I just finished a Connie. I think they are my current fave. I don't want to let go of it, but on the other hand, don't need it. What to do, what to do??
