I recently watched a few hatchet videos (13" to 15" with 1 to 1.3 lb heads) and I thought about starting this thread. I am not sure if we have a dedicated Hatchet/Axe and saws thread and if this is a repeat thread I'll kill it.

I really like my Husqvarna Hatchet, especially for $36 delivered from Amazon a number of years ago. I prefer my 10 for limbing and chopping, however the hatchet does a great job for heavier chopping and splitting tasks. I am really impressed with the Silkys (S!K sells them) even though I have only used the saws a handful of times . They just chew through wood and are surprisingly sturdy/less flimsy than other folding hand saws I've used. And as stated in other posts my 7/7 does a great job of batoning and light chopping tasks. Anyway, I'd love to see some of your equipment.

These are my favorite combo

From the top:

Felco F8 pruner - it is much easier and effective to use than a machete if you need to trek through area with thick undergrowth.

Silky Gomboy 240 - I have not use it yet but I bought this so I can carry a shorter knife which looks less intimidating during my group hiking. I carry it in my backpack.

GSO5.1 in CPM20CV - the stainless steel knife which is shorter and less intimidating. Non stainless steel knives rust too easily for me.

Love my Gransfors Bruks, that along with my Gso 5.1 and a folding saw I think I could tackle the world

I tend to go cheap on most tools to save money for more GSO's :D

Really the Bahco and Fiskars do everything I realistically need even though there's better options out there.

Cheap does certainly not always equate lack of quality! That Laplander is a GREAT saw, add a mora and you'd be ok,, just don't tell my wife I said that :D

Ha! Good point ;)

That 5 is clearly the crown jewel of the trio.

All the talk about Silky's here when S! started to carry them definitely has me interested, especially the big boy. I just need more need for a better saw to justify the investment.

Good stuff right there. I've never used a Bahco saw but those Fiskars are handy.
