Axe sheath modified

I was looking for an alternative to my fiskars axe sheath which doesn't do it for me. I wanted something a lot more practical and attractive.

There are some generic axe sheaths available from Amazon and Forestry Suppliers. But I would recommend getting some "farmers bundle" leather remnants and a few rivets/Chicago screws/snaps and making your own. I recently started doing this...it's easy and the end product is unique.

I would be careful to get only Veg tanned leather. I bought one of those bundles at a craft store and it rusted a nice carbon steel custom knife within 24 hrs.

@Marcelo, you probably could have used an acrylic sealer on it to make it safe for your axe, no?

Thanks! Yeah, didn't think of that. Would that be a brush on sealer, something like for outdoor furniture or decks?

I bought an acrylic sealer at a local tandy leather place. If you asked for one at a local leather place im sure theyd be ablr to supply it
