Axis (etc) lock care?

Not looking to start a well-worn discussion about springs, just curious how or if you oil your axis lock (or similar style lock)? Do you disassemble or just drop some in? I usually use Wahl oil on most pivots, which I think is basically mineral oil, as it's food safe. It's not gritty, I just like to maintain... Thanks!

Oil only on the blade side of the washers. Everything else, including the axis lock bar and blade tang, are dry.

Yep, this has always worked for me as well. Plus an occasional blow-out with canned air, like all my knives.

My girlfriend has carried a small griptillian every day for about 15 years. The only care it ever really gets comes when I snag it off the counter to sharpen it, clean the tape gunk off the blade, blow out pocket lint, and occasionally give it a drop of oil. Both springs are still original, and I think the only way the lock bar has ever gotten oiled is when it might run down from the pivot.

I just drop oil in there and clean up excess as I see fit. My Tormek gets it dirty every time I sharpen, so I no longer disassemble and clean.

However... it is nice to get that enhanced assisted open when parts are polished and cleaned ; )

I take a Q-tip or folded paper towel to wipe out the dust (maybe a little isopropyl alcohol), but don't do anything else with it. Never had a problem with it locking or unlocking. The lock does not have tight tolerances where a little grime would affect it. Disengaging and engaging the lock itself does do some minor cleaning of the channel.
