I posted this picture in another thread. H2o Grip last week, covered in wet soil.
I took the picture at the end of the work day. I was opening it to use for something or other and was surprised how much junk I'd left on it throughout the day. The knife felt gritty to open and close but worked fine. Rinsing off and getting some mineral oil in the pivot got it back to smooth.
I've seen several utube vid's where they "gunk" up the locking mechanism and see if it still works or how it effects the lock or lock up.
Like all locking mechanisms offered and tested if you get a large enough pebble or amount of debris in the lock it will jam it up if not cleaned out. The AXIS faired very well compared to other locks but still, it has it's limitations as all locking knives do.
Benchmade recently posted a test the AFO II where they buried it in sand, shook it and it still worked just fine. I was fairly impressed and surprised by that.
