Is slight up and down play normal? I'm able to muscle vertical blade play on my Grip. If I tighten the screw the blade play vanishes, but it also loses that smooth, and loose feel it had. Do all axis locks suffer this problem? Or should I send it it.
FYI this knife has only cut paper, plastic wrap, and cardboard. So unless that's considered abuse, I didn't abuse it.

Up/down blade play when open and locked is NOT normal (a bit of up/down when closed is not unusual).

I'd send it in.

Mine do not. Having said that, I've gotten really good at flicking them open hard so the lock bar goes all the way up. That and they have probably worn in by now.

you're knife is broken, it might not be good at the girly tasks you use it for, using a man's knife on menial tasks is abuse, don't even bother sending it in, it will just break again,

What he said! Your knife is malfunctioning because you are using it for such menial tasks. If you had been using it for manly chores, it would be working just fine. Turn in your man card and send your knife to me so it can be used for manly things... like cutting paracord.;):D

The vertical blade play is not normal, so definitely send it in to BKC. Their customer service is top notch, so they'll take care of you.

Maybe I'd use it if it didn't had play, but it's had play since I got it. So it's bringing the abuse on itself
