Axis lock question.

I have a 710 M4 that I can't figure out. To get the blade to freefall shut from the open position I'm having to pull back on both sides of the lock for some reason. It will close with a little wrist flick by just pulling on one side or the other but won't freefall like it does when both sides are pulled together.

My other 710 D2 doesn't have this problem. Neither does my 810 or my 943.

Wondering if this is something I could fix or will I have to send it in?

The axis lock uses two "omega springs" to hold a perpendicular bar in place against the blade tang. It would make sense for the user to have to pull on both sides of said bar (considering that the springs operate relatively independently from one another) in order to fully release the locking mechanism on the knife in question. I do not think that what you are experiencing is evidence of lock failure of any sort, but is instead a normal function of the design.

As the lock is subjected to use over time, you will likely find that it loosens up some and becomes easier to close using one side of the bar instead of both.

Jason is right. Also, it is t recommended to pull back on just one side. It puts lots of pressure on that side and can lead to spring failure.
I have some that will free drop pulling one side and some that don't. It really isn't a problem and will most likely break in.

Well I guess that's just the way it is then. I just thought since all my other ones freefall from just one side that this one should too. Oh well.

Thanks guys.
