Axis lock thumb studs too sharp - how to modify

I just picked up a NIB Benchmade 730. Love this knife and thrilled I was able to find one as they've been discontinued for a while. Only thing is (and this is my 6th BM axis lock) the studs on the lock on this knife have very sharp edges. I'd love to file them down a bit to break the edge, but given the step-like design and that they are recessed a bit into the handle, I don't know how to do it without risking damage to the G10 handles. Would appreciate any suggestions.

You about have to disassemble the knife to do so. I took my 610 Rukus apart and removed the axis lock bar, used a dremel, and cut my studs down flush with the G-10 so that they would not hang up on anything. Worked great. You will lose the warranty though.

What about asking Benchmade's Customer Service if they would be willing th break the edges on the studs a bit for you if you sent the knife back to them?

I suggest a dremel tool and a felt wheel loaded with polishing compound. It won't remove much material but should smooth the sharp edges off. Alternatively you can just very carefully use some fine sandpaper or a medium grit scotchbrite pad.

This will work great. I have used the dremel method to smooth out my spyderhole on my D4W. I have also used scotchbrite to "tone down" aggresive jimping.

Thanks for all the suggestions and apologies for posting in the wrong forum (there are so many, I can never figure out which is the right one ...)
