I have collected a number of knives ( mostly from info from the forum ) - My collection includes: benchmade apparition; Harsey T2 Folder; Kershaw Nakamura; Spyderco Kopa and Kiwi; Lone Wolf Paul; Kershaw Rainbow Leek; Pro-tech Godson(auto); Boker Magnum (auto ); Boker kalishnikoff (auto) As you can see I like nice handels!!
However - none of the above work as well as my MINI GRIPTILIAN(perdue)(440c) with axis lock!! - the axis lock is so much better than those cumbersome liner locks.
Wonder what other good small axis lock knives there are - with nice handels ??
I now understand why so many rave about the griptilian on these forums !
I already know the Griptilian comes in D2 (cabelas). I got mine on sale at GP knives (42.50) - a very good buy !
Best Wishes to Everyone !

Only Benchmade has the axis lock, so you can just look up the options on their pages. All BM's axis locks are great, just gotta find the one that fits you. Great lock, and I'm with you on their superiority over liner locks.

After I started using the Axis lock and had a 910 fail on me under white knuckling I decided to never use a liner lock again. I now don't own any and will never own them again.

I now have 2 Griptilians and a 940 and love them. It would be really difficult for me to even consider using a knife anymore without an Axis lock.

If you like the mini-griptilian try the 707, it's a great knife.

Some of the SOG knives use the ARC-Lock, which from my understanding is pretty much the same as a Axis lock

I don't yet own any though, so cannot personally testify to how good or bad they may work. I have heard only good things though.

The BB lock from Spyderco is quite good too, but not quite as easy.

As for a nice small axis lock knife, you should look at the carbon fiber 770 or the sequel, I really like them both.

If you want a smaller very nice Axis lock look into the HK model 14210. Its a very neat little folder made for them by BenchMade.

If you have the money, check out BM's Gold line of knives. There are plenty of Axis lock knives there with very nice handles.

Well, CS pays a fee to BM because their Ultralock is too similar to the Axis. I'm sure it would be said that the AK 47 lock comes under that fee.

Ya, seemingly another case of CS borrowing others' IP, though this time they had to pay, by all reports. It's basically an axis lock, but with the pin riding in a slot in the blade rather than on top of the tang. Still, CS's folders with this lock are easily a notch below Benchmade's in quality. No reason not to stick with Benchmade.

SOG's Arclock is a bit more complex than the axis but works on the same principle. Seems well done from the one sample I have (a Vision)

The Axis lock rules. Much better than the liner lock. Maybe better than any lock, although I also love Spyderco's lockbacks.

If I could only find a Benchmade Axis knife that I really loved. Every Benchmade has something about the design that removes it from my buying decisions. Some day Benchmade will make the knife that blows me away. The 710HS was VERY close. The position of the thumb studs just made it a little too hard to open easily. The Ritter Grip is pretty hot. When they make a Ritter Grip with G-10 scales, I'll be there.

...certainly not my first choice(couldn't they have just used a good 440C?).Decent looking knife ,a variation of an excellent lock, nice looking total package.the name itself is not original -Boker also makes an "AK-47" folder:G-10 handle scales, thumbstuds, linerlock AND 440C steel blade.Could've been worse....the blade of the CS AK-47 might have been " premium subzero quenched,high-carbon 420J"!!!!!P.S -If CS decided to make this knife(if lock being a a good one!!) from their exceelent Carbon-V(52100?) witha a good factory 40 degree bevel...that would definitely get my interest and dollars.:D

I like the Axis lock, but I LOVE framelocks!! Framelocks are MY personal favorite! I also think that Spyderco's ball bearing lock, is smoother than the Axis lock. And for the record, I LOVE my RSK yellow Mini-grip! (I love S30V)

Oh I had no intention of comparing CS to BM; I noticed the design of the lock from a thread yesterday and the design just seemed to be too convenient.

I love my BM Axis locks: 556, 710 HS, and 921

I just wish they made it available on several other models, like the 910 and the 425 (both linters).

Current collection: BM 5 CS 0 :D

Hi Joe,
I like the AFCK in the auto axis lock. The plunge lock was fine.
It is just an excuse to buy another knife,

Daniel

I have the RSK Grip and, I don't know what could be done to make it an easier knife to open. The placement of the thumb-stud, and general Axis operation, is about as close to perfection as I can imagine. The 710 opens easy too imho but, it doesn't quite exude the effortless ease of the Ritter Grip. My guess is that the standard Griptilian is the same as the RSK in this regard.

I was issued
the Army and the AF I bought some.
