I got a chance to try out some axis lock folders today. they were BM's, and an SOG.

I thought they were pretty good designs. So what's your take on them? Mr. Strider, or anyone else?

seems like an axis lock design would work nicely in an AR or something. But seeing as strider didn't use one, there was probably a reason why... I don't know, it was just a thought.

My wife has a Benchmade with an Axis lock. IMHO, the AR lock is simpler, and at least as strong, if not stronger. I like simple & strong. Just my opinion...

I really like the AXIS lock (benchmade) because of its ambidexterous function, I definatly prefer to the ARC (SOG), which on my Night vision had a lot of play and didn't feel as "solid" as the AXIS lock. Of course all of this is a moot point as Strider are going to make left handed SNG's!!!:D :D :D :D

I have never had the chance to really beat the **** out of one.
It is a pretty cool lock design, I don’t think you should have any problems with it.

SMAT, thanks for the quote from “The Prophet”.

Mick: "SMAT, thanks for the quote from the PROPHET"?????
I'm not with you on this one, please explain:) :)

p.s. I would have done a proper quote but I'm to lazy to learn how:p

Sorry, I mis-remembered the line....
Its from "The Prophet" by Kahlil Gibran...

"On Children
And a woman who held a babe against her bosom said, "Speak to us of Children."

And he said:

Your children are not your children.

They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.

They come through you but not from you,

And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts.

For they have their own thoughts.

You may house their bodies but not their souls,

For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.

You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.

For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.

The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.

Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;

For even as he loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable. "

Mick: Oh that! It's not bad is it?! Didn't get it from there though. Somthing my Grandad used to say. I thought it was a nice touch!:)

Nothing against Benchmade, but after getting an AR with it's massive and well executed liner lock I can't see any reason to put a Axis lock on it. The lock on the AR is more like an integral lock with scales. Very simple and strong.

"Axis is a cool name though. You have to admit..."

Mick, you did it again! My imagination just "went off". I can see a special Benchmade "Purple Haze" knife with an Axis lock. It looks like a Kershaw Rainbow Leek, in purple...
