I'm looking into a BM Adamas, and I'm not sure whether I should go for the auto, or stay with the standard Axis. The price difference is acceptable, for a quality knife, the $55 isn't a huge deal.
I have owned many examples of all the axis variations. My preference is first the regular axis, then the assist, and the auto axis last. The Adamas has enough mass to allow it to open almost effortlessly. My opinion is that the auto detracts from the design.
Go with the manual, the blade has the weight to open easily with a simple flick and it has HUGE washers which make for super smooth opening. Simple downward flick or a minimal effort upward flick and the blade swings open and makes a nice locking sound. The auto, well unfortunately, you can only open it with the studs or pulling the lock back which is slower. Handle is large enough to get a good grip on it from drawing from your pocket to flicking it before having your hand fully on the handle. The Adamas is my absolute LOVE.
