Axis w/aluminum slabs or G-10????

No G10 on a TACTICAL knife is a sin.

I wish they'd make a Tanto, Serrated, BT coating, bead blasted, Chisel ground, version of the Axis lock.

G 10 all the way since it can be molded with a nicely textured surface, and since BM and a legion of other production and custom makers nearly always finish their scales, Al included with a SMOOTH polished finish. WHY??!!??!! Especially since they call or categorize them as "tactical". I' ll just never understand it!! Signnn... sorry about that.

Aluminum all the way! I know G-10 is THE tactical material, but aluminum handles feel so good (IMO). I love my SOCOM and Civillian, and I'm getting a 720 and 750 (okay it's titaniam, samw sort of thing-I hate SS). As for a choice on the 710, well the prototypes were aluminum and very few were made. Last I heard, they were going for around $500. Go buy a Sebenza

There are only two types of people; those who understand this, and those who think they do.

I prefer the aluminum. The knife seems to have more class and has a nice feel. Besides everything is G-10 today and Benchmade's is only average.

I prefer the aluminum as well. The aluminum handles seem to be a bit better finished than the G-10, in the sense that the aluminum is slightly thinner, and the corners are more rounded. The first thing I'd do with a G-10 Axis is round the corners off -- which takes all of a couple minutes, so don't let that stop you if you like G-10 better.

My aluminum axis does not have smooth aluminum scales, the aluminum feels very very chalky and provides a good grip even when wet.

In addition, for some reason, the aluminum axis is lighter than the g-10 axis.

The downside to aluminum, of course, is that the anodized coating can chip off. I always carry my knife clipped to my waistband, so I don't need to worry about that too much. But it'll get scratched badly if carried in a pocket with change & keys.

i prefer G-10, as it does not hold heat or cold as metal does. i'm outdoors alot and rarely wear gloves, so this is important to me. i do take a file and round all the edges of my G-10 knives, but i consider that an acceptable tradeoff.

joe- does the aluminum axis have the steel liners?
