Everyone but me seems really worked up over the Vesuvius proto's from the BladeShow. Is there anyone out there besides me who was totally jazzed about the Ayoob proto???

Sal, any info on size, lock, handle material etc?? Or maybe more photos anyone, I need a new screensaver

I think there's only 2 of us!

To make matter worse, I just got my Ayoob Razorback from the Postman!

Ferret:

Maybe we are weird (I know I am :>) because we have been hanging out at the MT Forum. (My UDT should be here tomorrow to add to my Kestrel and SOCOM Elite). Could it be contagious? Still want more scans of the AYOOB!

Since we're alone, I sent off for a black AND a bead blast MA SOCOM this week. Gluttony!

Bring on the Ayoob!

At the risk of sounding very "out of the loop," I have yet to see any scans of this new prototype. Where can I see them?

Thanks

Ishay,

From what I remember, Sal had said the blade is under 4"(looks real close to 4 though), handle is black almite, and it is a lockback.
If I'm wrong on any of this, feel free to update me.

Oh, and it's not just the two of you.

I'm glad it looks less like a prision shiv than the MOD ayoob knife..

Still like the new Lum more though.

Ken, welcome to the loop!

The MOD Ayoob is not only the best watermelon sticker I own (the grind around the point and juice grooves really work) but that handle design is one of the most comfy around and I'm glad to see it echoed in the Spyderayoob. Wanting.

James,

Is the blade on that thing fully open?

If so, pretty much a dedicated reverse grip piece I should think.

Still, nice lines, good looking piece. Do you remember what the materials are, I seem to remember VG-10?

Actually, I think this would work well in hammer/saber type grips, particularly for thrusting. This is similar, I believe, to Laci Szabo's UUK design, though probably not original to either him or Mr. Ayoob.

Steel is VG-10. The "Straight wrist" concept has been around for some time. Outdoor Edge's David Bloch introduced the concept in a "T" handle skinning knife and filet knives. Some of the commercial kitchen knife companies have and are offering some "Straight wrist" models. The argument is for stronger control and reduced fatique.

I guess I can see how that would work. I'll have to get one in my hand and play with it.

Looks a bit like George Patton's cavalry saber.
