First of all...HUGE thank you to Azwelke (Al). He ran a contest for a new custom 5.1 sheath in a separate thread and I was lucky enough to win. The result? See for yourself!!!:

I had previously ordered a leather sheath for mine so I let my wife pick what she wanted for hers;

Pancake style
Black carbon fiber effect
Hybrid drop loop

I think she nailed the choices, and Azwelke knocked it out of the park! It is more compact than the standard sheath and has tighter retention. I think the carbon fiber effect looks awesome with the jade handles!

Looks awesome Redwood. I received mine too. High quality with a nice fit. Two thumbs up.

Nice and slim, I like it. Those drop loop attachments he does are slick as heck, too.

Al does great work! Although the kydex attachment could have been more seamless and more offset from the sheath.

Very cool! That carbon fiber looks so good!!!!!

Is the loop made of leather?

Haha I told my wife when she picked it "there's a guy named silver who is gonna really like your choices" it is leather, I think the whole package is really nice, stiff the ways you want it with just enough flex

NO WAY!!!!! Hahahaha!!!!! Looks like a comfortable rig!

The thing is, with the stock sheaths being so darn good any custom sheath would be different, but not a giant improvement. Since S! doesn't offer a true taco sheath, that is something I'd feel good about getting later on.

It's hard to explain but the slight reduction in size of the sheath seems to be a huge improvement. My one very small observation would be (for me) a little larger spot to put my thumb to pull out the knife. Time will tell if I'm wrong.

Agreed, I like my sheaths as small as possible and this one gets pretty darn close to what kydex can achieve!!

She definitely will!! She bounced back and forth on color, but the carbon with jade might be a perfect match if ever there was one. We can't thank you both enough!! I'll post more pics when we get out in the woods again!
