Just wanted to post a few pics and thank Al for his generous GAW and getting me to buy a bk16 which has exceeded my expectations. It's a great knife.

The GAW was the bk16 sheath and Al added the OD belt loop

I also purchased a scout carry bk7 sheath with brown leather. Very happy with it. Al was kind enough to special order the brown leather.

Look forward to many years of use.

Nice. How difficult is it to get the '7 in and out of the sheath when it is hanging on the back of your belt?

Great question, as you might expect getting it out is easy, getting back in is a bit treacherous.

I lower the tip and reach around with my left hand to guide it back from the spine.

Mmmm. So it is a convenient, unobtrusive way to carry a big knife... but not the ideal method if the knife needs to be used frequently.

I like plastic sheaths. It is good to be able to wash them. I've made up a small 'ram rod' from stainless wire that has an eye in one end. I slip some cotton rag through the eye, and use it for cleaning out narrow plastic sheaths. I didn't used to think about cleaning sheaths for years, but now I've got a bit fussier having worked for a food processing company.

That is a useful-looking combination of knives for the outdoors.
